Class Action Suit Against Water Companies?

Are you tired of buying water? If the water we buy is good to drink, why can’t the water companies take the same extra step in giving us good drinking water from our taps? Since they aren’t providing a quality drinking product, why can’t they be held responsible? What do you think?

The water companies could provide good drinking water–they could use ozonation or reverse osmosis, instead of poisonous chlorination, for instance.
But then they would probably raise the water rates sky-high.
Regarding those water companies that normally comply with govt regulations, the water provided by them is usually deemed “safe”, so they have no incentive to make it better.

In most towns that I have lived in, the people drink the local water with no problem. There are some exceptions, and at Devens, MA, the water needed to be filtered because of a sulfury taste and rust.
Most people buy bottled water because they prefer it, and think that it is cool. “I drink Evian.” Perrier was the “it” water for a while.
If local water is unhealthy, or if people get sick and the cause can be proved to be pollution or bacterial or viral infection, then a class action lawsuit as in the film “A Civil Action” can be brought. But someone has to pay the lawyers, and it is not a slam dunk to win one of these suits, so it takes a commitment and some patience, and is not to be undertaken lightly.
The Bush Aministration has lowered the drinking water standards, and more arsenic, a very deadly poison, is now allowed.
Do I have a filter on my tap?
Yes, I do. The body is mostly water, and to me, good pure water is a neccessity, as is breathing pure air.

Believe it or not I live in a town that has its own power plant and water plant. I don’t really understand this either. It is unnerving because they have sent out flyer’s stating how bad the water is but never give a break when it comes to the bill. I truly understand we still have to shower and have clean water but why cant something be done? That would be nice to know I live in Oklahoma. If you get a good answer will ya let me know. Your not the only one out there. God Bless.

If you think the water is unfit to drink, you could try a lawsuit. You’d probably fail. Municipal water companies have strict federal standards that they must meet and they are testing all the time. It may not taste the way you’d like, but it’s safe to drink.
