If I owe back child support will I not get my stimulus check?
I don’t owe alot of back child support. But with the state of Texas, if you owe more than $500 the government gives your tax return to the child support division. So will I get my stimulus check or will that go towards my back child support?

My husband is currently paying off about $10k in back child support….and he has always received his refunds and we did receive our stimulus. I think it all depends on if the courts have put a flag on your ss#….if not, your fine.
LL – there are many reason someone may owe back child support….it’s not always because the father is deadbeat…our situation is far from that and my husband owes back as well…..since you are such a “perfect” person apparently, you should know not to jump to conclusions.
Joe – check out the link I have attached. I’m not sure this applies to the stimulus payments, but I would think that if your refunds are not flagged, then your stim payment would not be either. There is a # at the bottom that you can call. It’s automated and you can find out if your ss# if flagged or not.
I don’t know the answer, but being the wife of a father who never missed a child support payment, I can’t believe you are even asking that question. You think you deserve money? Your children are your first priority. We had to do without many things and even had to delay having our own child because we both believed child support was our first priority. Any amount of “back” child support is too much.
Child support…and that’s less money u have to pay out your own pockets.

its funny how the dads that arent deadbeats(like myself) but get behind on their child support due to a situation that cannot be helped gets drugg thru the system like we are deadbeat dads. I was wondering the same question so im not sure of your answer but it pisses me off to no end to be a good father and pay all my bills and my debts on time then have to be humiliated by the court system just because of circumstances we couldnt help.
