is there a certain percentage of what legal fees lawyers get in a class action suit?

if a class action suit is 2 million dollars, can anyone tell me what part goes to the lawyers and what part goes to thier clients. someone told me that the lawyers get 33% of the total settlement. Is this true?

It’s 33% however that doesn’t include cost. They can get more to pay paralegals etc. and the cost can be extra high in class action.

It should depend on the work contract. If you enter into an agreement with a lawer to litigate they should have a work contract detailing the costs and fees. 33% is about the average for civil suits but you might want to try to get a cap on the 33% at a million and 25% thereafter. Make sure you read the contract and understand it before signing.

I was part of a class action suit a few years ago, against Firestone. I received a check for $ 4.80.
